How Our Furniture Is Packaged
We are committed to ensuring that all Artisan Furniture products shipped to our Australian customers are packaged using high-quality, durable, and sustainable materials that comply with mail-order standards and reduce damage during transit.
Our latest packaging model is designed to provide maximum protection while minimising the use of plastic, aligning with our sustainability goals.
Key Packaging Features
- Interlocks: Doors and drawers are secured with interlocks. Knobs are protected with additional cushioning if required.
- Craft Paper Wrapping: Each item is fully wrapped in thick kraft paper for added surface protection.
- High-Density Corners: Reinforced corners are added along all edges to safeguard structural integrity, especially for high-impact areas during transport.
- Thermocol (Polystyrene) Corners: A layer of thermocol (polystyrene) is added to the corners, combined with corrugated board for dual protection.
- Thermocol Blocks: Additional thermocol blocks are inserted every 10-12 inches around the product’s edges, and an extra block is placed on the top surface.
- Reinforced Cardboard: Strong cardboard is added along the full length of the product edges to preserve the box structure and offer extra protection.
- Drop-Test Compliant: Packaging is designed and tested to withstand drops, making it compliant with mail-order shipping standards.
- Secure Interlocking Base: Products are interlocked onto a base platform, so any transit impact affects the platform first, not the product.
- Fragile Items: Fragile products (e.g. mirror frames, bone inlay pieces) are double-boxed using an inner and outer box system, with extra thermocol protection around delicate surfaces.
- Outer Box: Final packaging is completed with a 7-ply high-strength corrugated carton, followed by strapping, taping, and labelling.
- Heavy Products: Heavier furniture is placed in high-density cartons to withstand the added weight.
- Hardware Packaging: All small hardware components are placed in a sealed plastic pouch, wrapped in Styrofoam. A red ribbon is attached for easy visibility.
- Knock-Down (KD) Products: Legs and detachable parts are individually wrapped in kraft paper, cushioned with Styrofoam, and placed in a separate compartment or box packed with the main item.
We are continually improving our packaging standards for the Australian market, balancing product protection with environmental responsibility. If you have any questions regarding our packaging or require specific carton dimensions for freight planning, please contact our team.
